In December 2016, the European Union concluded a free-trade agreement with Ecuador. This agreement is the product of extortion, since the EU had unilaterally cancelled its trade preferences for Ecuador after signing similar agreements with Peru and Colombia. 33% of all Ecuadorian bananas are sold in the EU nowadays, while being locally produced under the use of highly toxic, partly prohibited, pesticides. Living in the area of banana plantations, increases the risk of cancer about 13%, child deformations are 10 times more likely than in the rest of the country. New urbanization in Bunche/Muisne (Esmeraldas province), Ecuador, built by the government after the Earthquake of April 2016. With the houses the area was turned into video surveilled living space for the sake of "safety"....
6 months after being handed over to their new owners, who previously had to wait for them during one year (after the Earthquake of April 2016), these houses are already not water proof, with the rainy season ahead....
Impressions of profoundly urban, ordered visions for rural urbanizations in Bunche/Muisne (Esmeraldas province). Design and architecture was planned in urban centers, materials imported from urban highlands. The results are disturbingly unfitting for coastal, tropical environments. Every building (2 stories) houses 4 families on 60m2, but Afro-Ecuadorian families can be very extensive...
